Digital Illustration

The reason I chose digital illustration is that I use it often to more easily produce visually appealing art. Digital illustration has the power to speak to a lot of people. This is because it is made to be reproduced and can be rendered perfectly without losing any of its qualities. This results in an interpretation of the artwork and a lot more people viewing it and exploring its meaning. I will be talking about the use of digital art in publishing, media, and the internet. Techniques of digital illustration I will work on are photography, photo painting, digital collage, 2d and 3d digital painting, vector painting, mixed media (integrated digital art) which is a combination of many other named digital techniques, and video art and interactive digital illustrations. Digital illustration impacts the audience who experience it because it is allows the artist to implement new tools and enhance their creative path.

Digital illustration is the use of digital tools to produce images under the operation of the artist. People enjoy digital illustration as it is part of technology and because everyone relies on technology and uses it everyday. Digital illustration is a great method for artists to get their work out into the world because you can post it on social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Primary research methods include researching my own past work and visiting exhibits to view others’ work. Secondary methods of research I would like to explore include online resources, digital illustration techniques using online illustration tutorials, and doing my assigned readings and journal entries each week.  The research methods I will use are my computer, tutorials on learning how to use of After Effects, exhibits, examples of my previous work as well as previous work of other artists. I am planning on exploring digital animation and digital technology and digital drawing on my iPad using Procreate.

In my work, I have explored the themes of identity, nature and environment, humans, conflict and adversity, and freedom and social environment.
